Phantom Phone Calls

What would you do if you received a phone call from someone that couldn't possibly have made it? What would you do if they sounded like them, knew things about you and talked to you like they always used to? The only problem being they are dead. Would you hang up? Talk to them one last time? Or just listen? Some people have had to answer these questions. Join us as we look at the strange and unusual phenomena of ghostly phone calls.

The phenomena itself has a fairly straightforward pattern usually a person will receive a phone call from a loved one (family member, husband, wife, significant other or close friend) the conversation may appear quite ordinary but after the person hangs up they find out that the person they were talking to had died. Other versions of this phenomena have the person receiving the call well aware that the person who is on the other line died weeks, months or years earlier. They are often a loving message or a final farewell or a message of support during challenging times and very occasionally a warning.

The first type of call has a close connection to what are known as crisis apparitions. Where the spirit is saying a final goodbye just over the phone rather than in a corporeal form usually around the time of death and usually because they are many miles away. The other time maybe mire closely associated with guardian angels who help people in their time of need.

This phenomena has been reported over analogue and digital mediums and both on land lines and mobile devices.  Often the number is unavailable or untraceable but even when the number can be found it is more often than not a number that has never existed.

There never seems to be any malice or ill intent in the contacts from beyond and can often offer a sense of peace and contentment that the recipient may have been searching for.  For now and the forceable future the truth behind these calls may be out of reach but it's nice to know someone is always looking out for you through the good times and the bad.
